What to focus on in 2023 as a People Pleaser, Workaholic, Hopeless Romantic, or Sensitive Soul

Afraid your 2023 resolutions suck?

Honestly, they probably do. Especially if you start it with “I will stop ____”

Or if you tie your resolution to a specific number- like a weight goal, an income goal, etc.

So I did the hard work for you and I’ll show you, what your brain wants to tell you to “stop” doing, and what you’re going to focus on doing instead.

Remember- your intention is going to drive you as you take action, so this year, resolve to focus more on what you do want, vs. what you don’t want.

Here’s the 4 tropes I’ve seen in coaching dozens and dozens and dozens of humans, and don’t worry if you’re all or some of them, they all apply to you. But, choose ONE route to focus on this new year.

The People Pleaser

Resolution:

To stop people pleasing & reclaim your time, energy, money, and inner peace

Action Plan:

  1. Identify your core values

  2. Determine your non-negotiable priorities (i.e. weekly date night, 11 PM bedtime, saving $10,000, etc)

  3. Know your “why” for each priority (it should be linked to a core value)

  4. Set boundaries (with yourself & other people) to protect your priorities

  5. Follow through on said boundaries throughout the year


Affirmations:

  • “My desires are important”

  • “I choose to prioritize my needs today”

  • “I serve from an overflowing cup”

  • “It’s safe for me to choose myself”

  • “I’m the easiest person to make happy”

  • “I can respect my own boundaries, even when others choose not to”


Manifestation:

Become the person who has it all and stays grounded & peaceful in it 

The Workaholic

Resolution:

To stop stressing so much about work and start having work-life balance

Action Plan:

  1. Identify your core values

  2. Re-prioritize your time according to your values by doing a time audit (look at how you spent your time the last week/month & see if it matches what you say is important to you)

  3. Get in your body- you’ve probably spent too much time in your head, let out the anxiety by being in your body

  4. Befriend REST & build PRESENCE

Affirmations:

  • “It‘s safe for me to stop working today”

  • “I am doing enough”

  • “No one died wishing they worked more, but plenty died wishing they worked less”

  • “Rest is a valuable use of time”

  • “I’m not willing to sacrifice more limited time in life for endless work”

Manifestation:

Become the person who can be present with people, enjoys rest, and allows work to simply be a part of life.

The Hopeless Romantic

Resolution:

To stop chasing and start attracting a life partner

Action Plan:

  1. Identify your core values

  2. Define what you want in life from yourself (outside of a partner)

  3. Write down the kind of partner you want to invite in to share life with (personality traits, values, life goals, life perspectives, hobbies, how you feel around them, etc)

  4. Focus on being the person YOU want to be (AKA the person your future partner is looking for)


Affirmations:

  • “The more I’m in love with my life, the more attractive I am”

  • “I’m most magnetic when I am being my authentic self”

  • “I know what I want, and say no to what I don’t want”

  • “I’m only available for people who are aligned with me & my highest self”

  • “I can trust my judgement”


Manifestation:

Become the person who is unfuckwithable in dating and only attracts high quality relationships 


The Sensitive Soul

Resolution:

To stop trying to be less sensitive, and start protecting your heart.

Action Plan:

  1. Un-shame having big feelings

  2. Notice the urge to gaslight yourself into thinking you “shouldn’t” feel a certain way & give yourself permission to feel your feelings

  3. Get to know yourself, your triggers, and how you respond to things & Set up firm energetic boundaries with social media, family, work, etc.

  4. Develop a ritual to give back what is not yours to feel & practice grounding yourself in your reality


Affirmations:

  • “It makes sense why I’m feeling ___ right now”

  • “When I mute, unfollow, and curate my feed to protect myself energy, I allow myself to be at peace”

  • “I have the power of feeling”

  • “I am responsible with the content I consume and the people I surround myself with”


Manifestation:

Become the person who can feel deeply, give freely, and respond powerfully with a strong heart.
