I love connecting with individuals on a deep level. I believe vulnerability and compassionate empathy are the key components to heal and thrive.

I’m a holistic wellness practitioner meaning I believe every domain (mental, physical, emotional, relational, occupational, spiritual, intellectual) of your life works with one another and together make up your health.

Without optimal health, I know how awful social, familial, and romantic relationships can be, as well as how difficult it is to love yourself. I don’t believe in quick fixes, especially the ones that sound too good to be true (seriously, who came up with detox tea?), but I do believe that you can achieve whatever goal you have by changing your lifestyle and that being in good health helps you reach a heightened quality of life.

My Story (In Brief):

I was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised by two extremely hard working Chinese immigrant parents that came to chase the American dream. As such, I was taught to work hard and be the best at everything I did. I struggled with burnout, food anxiety, depression, and perfectionism for years, much of that struggle due to hating myself and my body. On the outside, everything seemed fine - I was a star student, I had friends, I was super toned, I worked out daily, I ate salads every day, and I was on the cheer team.

However, at 12 years old hating my body, not feeling enough, and being unhappy was my daily reality, and at 14 years old, calorie counting was my religion.

I was sexually assaulted at 14 by an ex-boyfriend and experienced emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse throughout that relationship, and another at 18. I had to completely undo my beliefs about relationships, and reconstruct what a healthy relationship looked like to me.

My freshman year of college, I realized I needed help if I really wanted to change. However, after a 3-day hospitalization, I found that the existing mental health system in the United States did little for their patient’s mental wellbeing. After the system failed me tremendously, I decided that if anyone was going to make a sustainable positive impact on my mental health and my life, it had to be me.

I taught myself strategies to recognize self-destructive behavior and worked to change my mindset. I took note of how I felt, gave myself more attention, cut out toxicity from my life, picked up hobbies, and traveled across the world. I discovered so much about myself and was able to not only heal my relationship with food, but transform my entire lifestyle to be health and happiness focused.

That’s when Jen Cui Health was born. After bringing joy to hundreds of people through fitness, dance, and nutrition, I decided to expand my reach. As a former group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and health coach, I took everything I learned about habit formation, behavior change, the power of the mind, the wonders of the human body, and the magic of the spirit to create my unique life coaching practice.

I learned so much on my journey to health and happiness and now, I want to help others heal their bodies and minds using techniques that I learned from my own journey and those whom I’ve served.
