Healing Intergenerational Trauma

This is for my Asian American/ child of immigrants soul siblings who feel the tension between wanting to be on a spiritual journey of self discovery, manifestation, and deep healing & wanting to be safe, responsible, and hold onto the known

I know this tension well- and I want to share what I found that helped me tolerate this paradox

You need to learn what to carry & to stop carrying it all alone.

You carry so much, and it feels like you have to carry it all alone because that’s what your ancestors have always done.

The same resilience, emotional fortitude, and ability to override pain with logic that allowed them to flee wars, escape communist regimes, survive invasion and torture, and try to live a normal life after witnessing murder and r@pe-

Is also the iron casket keeping you from accessing your heart’s hopes, desires, and joys- leaving you with a life of success without fulfillment, of safety but no softness, of stability but no aliveness.

The same family bond that keeps everyone together and strong, that ensured the survival and success of your lineage, that westerners don’t understand, that makes the life-long bond sacred

Is also the barrier keeping you from letting others in, from trusting fully, and loving freely- it’s the short leash that has you longing for the horizons but too attached, afraid, and conditioned to go

The same heaviness that your parents carry from deciding their lives & their children’s lives were worth the risk, worth the sacrifice, worth the emotional turmoil of leaving behind their entire family, culture, and even their beliefs

Is the same heaviness you carry for the privileges you get to have, the same waves of guilt, shame, and anxiety you feel driving you to want to live up to their dreams, yet use your privilege for you

Learn to thank your ancestors for the gifts, the strength, and the wisdom they’ve been able to bestow you within your DNA

And rewrite the rest. Let it go. All of the stories, the traumas, the dramas.

Stop taking responsibility for others, define success on your own terms, and decide your pain is worth healing, your desires are worth fulfilling, and your joy is worth prioritizing

Because you ARE your ancestors wildest dreams come true

You don’t just carry their heaviness, you carry their light

You carry their desire for happiness, healing, love, joy, excitement, and success- all the things they didn’t have access to, you carry the desire to really LIVE FULLY

They don’t want you to repeat the same pains, to relive their lives, they WANT you to live the life of freedom, love, and abundance so much that they started 7 generations ago to give you what you have now because they loved you so deeply and you are so worthy

Your ancestors paid for your crown, you just get to wear it.

Come dance with your ancestors and rejoice at The Soul Whispers Retreat Dec 30-31st, 2023 in beautiful Joshua Tree, CA
